No really, thats their words, not mine.. on the cd, it says.. putting the die in Indie music.
So, i got this CD mid May, and finally cracked it open tonight. In order to get psyched up for it, I resorted to running for 2 straight days to get delierious enough to listen to the band. So, lets do first impressions. Those are key. I get this picture with the band:

Yeah.. its a bit corny.. but atleast it shows they got spirit. Don't worry tho, their music is better than their photo taking skills. I've taken into account tho, that it was probably new years eve, and they possibly were drunk. Another plus in my book.. Because they don't look like a bunch of Superheros who are really hung up on 2009 being the year of Wolverine.
There self description is: The most eccentric band on the planet. (Prince is eccentric.. Elton John... Eccentric..) Maybe if they had feathers on their masks, I could see it.. atleast they got the sequens on there.. so, 1 outa 2 ain't bad. So, where does that leave the music portion.
Them: Their influences include Herbie Hancock to REM to the Pixies.
Me: Thank gawd they didn't say Bobby McFarrin.. but yeah, i can see it. But go early REM, early pixies, and a touch of Cranberries. Surprisingly, the lyrics are rather interesting. I liked them. I'm a rocker by nature, this music is something I haven't listened to in a long time.. but it's got melody, it's got beat, it's got rythem, and the lyrics don't suck. Honestly, this is one of those CDs I would put on while i'm cleaning the house, or doing homework. There are up-beat catchy songs on the CD, like, Baby Don't Cry. But all in all, it's a really well put together album. The band is pretty solid. I've listened to it twice now writing this review. I'm not sick of it, nor have i grown a mangina.
When you come against a band like this, they know that they're only strong enough to maybe break out of the the local scene and maybe hit it big in the tri-state area, thats okay because they totally soak it up and celebrate the fact of where they are. They have embraced the Indie scene (Their last album was named 'Indier Than Thow'). It shows that they're happy, relaxed, and comfortable with where they are. Thats what makes a good indie band. I really want to see how far they can go. But for now, i'd say their music would be good enough to open for DMB if they had a contest to do it.. I think they'd win..
So, Over all, I'd give their CD an 8 outa 10. 1 being totally fake, and 10 being Totally Genuine and Sincere. There are no bad songs on the album. They're 4 guys who love what they do, and it shows on their album. I'd say check 'em out, go hit their myspace page, and add them to your list. I can't say that they'd fit in with one of my shows, but they def. will get a song or 2 onto the Auto stream of KrushRadio.
You can find them at: http://www.tiewebmusic.com or http://www.myspace.com/tiewebband (baylesy@yahoo.com if you want to email them)
Also, if you don't like them, #BlameDrewsCancer. We have discovered that it's the root of all evil in America. Turns out we were wrong.. it wasn't money or greed.
