How can i not help this guy out...

by DocNasty 28. January 2010 18:05

So, i get this in facebook today and I think to myself.. how can I not take a min to help him out.. i mean, it's a great sob story.. I did some backgrounding on it.. it's true.  Ouch.  Well it took 45 seconds and i got my vote in.  Anyways guys, take a minute to help this couple out.

Here it is:

Hey everyone ... Connie and I have a friend named VAN for those of you that are in the Madison area you may recognize this name from Van Edwards on WIBA fm ... we need to pass the word HARDCORE and help his daughter .. please read below!

Thanks in advance
Fish
--------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi... It's me Van Edwards. Although I've been at WIBA-FM for what seems like forever, and I know we've been through a lot together, I'm about to do something I've never done before...ask for a personal favor.

This is a picture of me and my oldest daughter Vanessa, she's 25 (26 next month!). A framed copy of this picture she gave me as a gift is on the dresser in my bedroom...I see it every morning and every night...it is now more than a photograph to me, and here's why:

Vanessa is fighting for her life. She is battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and so far the cancer is winning. Her fight took a serious blow right before Christmas when we found out it had spread to her bone marrow. About a month ago she underwent a bone marrow transplant at the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center. The verdict is still out on the success of the transplant...but we remain optimistic. Since all conventional forms of treatment have proved fruitless...she is undergoing experimental treatments outside of Washington, D.C. (Fairfax, VA), close to the area I grew up and she was born. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated...but that's not all I'm asking.

Vanessa and her husband Mike were married in a civil ceremony before his deployment to Qatar (he is in the Air Force). We were going to plan a wedding "celebration" for this coming summer in Madison...but the diagnosis of cancer put everything on hold. Several months ago one of Mike & Vanessa's friends entered them in a contest for a "Dream Wedding Giveaway"...a complete wedding package valued at $100,000 put together by businesses in the San Francisco area. For once we received some good news as Mike & Vanessa are one of five couples in the national finals.

Here comes the favor. The winner will be determined by national online voting. I have provided a link below and am asking you to cast a vote for Mike & Vanessa Hawkins (couple #204). To cast a vote requires an email address and it's one vote per IP address which means everyone can't vote from the same system at work or they will cancel each other out. By giving your email address, I'm assuming you'll get some sort of "mail" from the promotional sponsors (although I haven't)...if this creates a problem for you I clearly understand...if not, please accept my thanks for quite possibly making a dream come true.

Here's the link:

http://www.sfweddinggiveaway.com/enter-to-win/

Please forward this to those you love, and do it now because voting ends soon.

Please know I can never thank you enough, Van

Top 10 things On my mind about Disney Buying out Marvel

by DocNasty 31. August 2009 20:56

So, they announced today that Marvel is going to be bought by Disney for 4B Dollars.  And then my brain started into high gear.  So, i had to make a list.

1.  What will the Hannah Montana / Hulk Crossover look like?
2.  Will the next 'I'm a Marvel, I'm a DC have Wolverine in Mousketeer ears?
3.  Toy Story 5 featuring Deadpool is going to freakin RAWK  (Take that buzz lightyear, he has swords in his hands, and guns..)
4.  Will they tone down the Bewbage on Marvel Comics.. Double D's in Zero G's made Marvel..
5.  Again with costumes, are they going to change the skin tight spandex with thick wool sweaters?  We gotta keep the Nipples.
6.  Who wants to see the Lobo vs. Disney Land cross over where he kills everything in the park.
7.  XMen 5 when Mickey brokers a truce and it ends in a group hug.
8.  Minnie Mouse vs. CatWoman  (You were thinking the same thing, right??)
9.  BatMan is now the Knight of insuffient light.. instead of the Dark Knight.
10.  Bizzaro Superman is granted handicap status because of Disneys strict PC Policy.

This is all thats on my mind right now.. but i'm sure there will be more as i think.. this is just whats immediately on my mind.  Here's a link to the whole story tho..

Fox News reporter Megyn Kelly rips Playboy "hate-sex" story

by DocNasty 8. June 2009 21:49

Ya know.. .I am a little urked about this one.. .No really...

First off, its pretty obvious someone doesn't know the difference between Hate-Sex or Angry Sex and rape.  Basically the artle was centered around a listing of conservative women they would like to "hate fuck".  Now.. Had they done their homework, they would know that Hate fucking is not Rape.. It's angry sex where you get your aggressions out.   Specifically, if you wanted to know what that is, it's also called grunge fucking.. and to be perfectly clear, Urban Dictionary (yeah, the real authority on these new phrases)  http://bit.ly/2v7n2O  "The act of fucking a person that you despise. Such an act is typically characterized by name calling, roughness, and immediate departure after the act."    Just to be clear.. I don't want people to think that i'm justifying rape, or even furthering it.

Essentially, Megyn Kelly needs to get off her high horse and be happy she actually made a list of names that didn't include the word 'ignorant' in the title.  Sorry, I used to watch fox/faux news.  I did.  But The morning show people are just horrible.. while the news may be fair, it's heavily opinionated.. not even to the credit of the station's political affiliation, i mean, it is personal opinions, which I've found, to be horribly mis-guided and seeded in cultish religions.  I expect Tom Cruise to be the next reporter there doing the weather.   Honestly, I'd rather watch CNN, and ignore anything political.

But thats not the real thing that pisses me off.  Someone linked the story in twitter, to which, i had to read it, and then i replied to it.  Apparently, CityPages blogger didn't like my reply.  No biggie, no worries, I'll put it here.. because thats the power of the Internet.  I think the overall concept of the playboy story was to basically say, 'these chicks needed a good banging.. and the author would do it if he had the chance' And I credited the concept to this video here.. from Manswers: http://bit.ly/avHWP (updated the link) basically, how to de-bitch a woman.

Time to get with the times.  My advice to Megyn,
1.  Learn how to spell your name.  Your name does not have to identify you as a beautiful unique person.  You are not.  You may have been at one time.. but years of conservative thinking has turned you into a frosty beyotch.  Time to change your name to something that stands out AND describes you.  I'm thinking something like Beaula as in Beaula Ball Breaker...

2.  There was a concept back in the early days of journalism called 'looking up the sources' You need to try this out.  You'd find out that hate fucking is not rape.  Luckily, I did the work for you.  This will keep you from looking like a dumbass.  I put your response up there with Gretchin Carlson's response to the Lindsey Lohan date video you called horrible and demeaning to women.. before you figured out it was posted on a humor site "FUNNY OR DIE".  Yeah, do your own homework, or fire the people that do it for you.. either way, it's not getting done.  Kapeesh?

3.  Lastly, learn to laugh at yourself a bit, and take critisism with a grain of salt.  Really, lighten up.  You have a stick up your ass, dislodge it.

Sincerly

Exceprt from the 6.6.09 show RE Jason Pollock

by DocNasty 8. June 2009 19:17

Good morning all.  I wanted to pause in my day and take a quick moment to clarify something from my show on Sat.  As I did have a very long show, 3.5 hours, which is about 2 hours longer than i wanted to do, but i did it anyways.. I mentioned something about Jason, and what he's doing.

Firstly, Jason is someone i would consider, "inspiring".  See, movie makers can do anything they want.  They can go out, record bums running head first into buildings, they can film jackass stunts, they can produce the next 20 grind house horror flicks, or, they can actually do something beneficial to our country, and inspire the kids.  See, thats what i really like about his project.  If you go to his website - http://www.theyoungestcandidate.com and watch the tailer.. you'll see what i mean.  This movie chronicles the journey of 4 teen candidates who are working to change their community.  It's an awesome documentary, and i'm waiting to see it..

I've been on this 'open your eyes..' and 'change the system' kick for a while, and to see kids step up and take control of their community is a positive step in changing how the current political system is being ran.  I just hope they're mature enough to say no to corruption, we all know it's out there.

I really do hope that America starts to figure out that the future of our great country belongs to the children, and we should let them have more of a say in it, since they are the ones stuck with it.  Statistically speaking, i've hit the half-way point in my life expectency.. so technically, i'm over the hump.. So what is there left to do but support these kids, and be there to mentor them.

So, Gratz to Jason.. you can follow him on twitter on the right hand side of my column.  He just got his film picked up to be shown @ some swanky hollywood movie theater...and he's very excited about it.. You gotta watch his announcement here:  http://cli.gs/meP0nn   Things are really flying high for the guy right now, he's been on Air America, the guy who did the Obama poster did his movie poster, and he's really picking up steam.  Really, i encourage you to go out there and see this movie and support it.. more so, I know this is more of an adult blog.. show the movie and stuff to your kids, and to your neices and nephews.  Let them know that if they are unhappy with the way their world is going, to get involved with it.

You didn't come here for soap

by DocNasty 27. May 2009 05:01

Honesty... When you saw my tweet, did you really come here thinking i was going to give you a nonsense survey to gather marketing data and honestly look deep inside your psyche and return to you what kind of soap you best relate to?  GAWD I HOPE NOT.  If you really wanted that, you'd be surfing inefficient websites like myspace and facebook.. you know the ones that you find 2000 people that you can friend, that never respond to you.

Whats the real point of pouring your emotions into a private message to someone who isn't really going to read it.  You're a notch on their CyberBedpost.  Hey look at me, i have 2000 people that are my 'friends' because myspace told me they were my friends.  But wait.. Friends wouldn't ignore you, right?  Try sending a message to Dave Navarro, or Trent Reznor... or hell, try sending a message to P Diddy, or Ashton Kutcher.. 99% chance you're not going to get a reply back.

Thats the big problem with alot of the social networking sites, because for most of them, they see you as consumers.  You're another fan.  But there are some bands out there that are learning to leverage the power of personal.  Here is the best one.  www.twitter.com/collective_soul  aka @collective_soul.  They actually read the tweets, they pay attention, they're learning to interact with the fanbase.  You have to respect a band that has embraced this simple concept.  Be good to the people who like you.  Go figure.  It's catching on too.  Read the article over @webaddict's blog.   http://bit.ly/twittercelebrity

So, why did i trick you to come here?  One is for purely selfish reasons.  This is my entry into a Contest to win some really kewl stuff from Collective Soul.  <Hate me.. it's okay>

But more so... It's to get you to enter it too!  Everyone can enter, here are the simple rules:
Go read their blog:  http://www.collectivesoul.com/blog/, Go Follow them on Twitter, and Blog about them (don't blog on myspace... myspace blocks everyone but friends from reading, so it doesn't count)

Here's what you can win:
1st Prize: 2 Tickets to any show, 2 backstage passes, AUTOGRAPHED GUITAR and a copy of new album
2nd Prize: 2 Tickets, Autographed Guitar Pick and a Copy of the new Album
3rd Prize: Copy of New Album, Autographed Picture, Autographed Drumsticks & Guitar Pick

The more creative you are, the better chance you have at winning this Contest.  Really, go check it out.
While you're there, go to http://www.collectivesoul.com/news/ and check out about their new 2009 tour.

Running with Twitter

by DocNasty 23. May 2009 23:45

I have decided to embrace this social media/social networking thing.  It's awe inspiring.  I've met some of the kewlest people on there... people, without doubt, that i'd probably hang out with in real life... and get drunk with.  I've also run into the spammers that are there, exploiting the fact that people think twitter is a popularity contest.  I almost got trapped in that thought process when i corrected someone on a #followiFriday thing.. then i thought, wait, i really don't care if i make it on a website.. .i'm really just happy that they actually care enough to introduce me to their tweeps.

I firmly believe twitter is getting it right.  While facebook and myspace are great social sites, the applications and widgets are killing it.  I hate to go to FB now, only because i am drowning in people wanting to send me gifts, buy me drinks, take over little green patches, and everything else.  I have a personal philosophy, and Twitter meets that need.  If you can't introduce me to something in 160 chars or less, then we're missing something.  For instance.. If there is a blog out there about something, summarize it, link it, and if it peaks my interest, i'll read the entire blog.

Virgin post, and i'm keepin it LAME

by DocNasty 20. May 2009 09:13

I'm not going to sit here, and tell you what you're going to find in my blog.  Honestly, I don't even know what I'm going to post here.  This post is to make sure this thing works.

All I can say for now, is follow me on twitter.  For those of you who know me personally, I have a different blog for my professional stuff... this is for me to be sophmoric, immature (yes, fart jokes, stripper jokes, whatever) etc.  This is my fun site, for my alter ego.

Who is DocNasty

Okay.. pet peeves.. i'm not MR. Nasty, Mr. Doc, DJ DocNasty, or anything like that.  I'm like Cher or Rosanne.. It's just DocNasty.  I let the chicks get away with Nasty man, but only if they say it in a sexy voice.  I live for the humor in life.. even if its buried in tragedy.  Don't ask me, it's how i cope.

I'm up late at night on twitter, www.twitter.com/docnasty  I play warcraft on dunemaul (same toon name.. docnasty.. see the trend yet?)  I really enjoy life for every day that i get to experience it.

Lastly I do a show on Krushradio.com every Saturday night from 10-12pm EST.  Tune it in.  I play music, I joke around, I make fun of dumbasses (yes.. the dumbass report), and I try to spotlight atleast 1 new artist a week.

All in all, I consider myself a humorist, an on-air personality, and a software developer.. Individual Results may vary.
